I warned you in a previous post that I was a huge Harry Potter fan and planned to get a Harry Potter themed tattoo. Well, I finally did it after talking about it for about 2 years! My sister and I went and got them together (hers was not HP related) about a week and a half ago. The above picture is from today and is still a little crusty and healing. I was very nervous about how it would turn out, but I am very pleased with the results.
This tattoo is kind of a representation of my childhood. If you’re not a Harry Potter fan (and maybe even if you are), I am sure you are wondering about the meaning of the ‘Always.’ Well, it kind of has several meanings. The ‘A’ is the symbol of the deathly hallows, making it Harry Potter related, and the ‘Always’ basically means that I will be a Harry Potter fan, always. Also, if you’ve read the books, you know the line where Snape says, “Always” in reference to his love for Lily. Also, there’s this…
That will be me as well, and now I have a lovely tattoo to show my love for Harry Potter, always.
Alan Rickman will always be a kitten, will you?
I’m super obsessed with houses and home decor right now. It’s probably because I’m married now and I’m done being obsessed with wedding related things…so it was only natural that I move onto married things like houses. My television is almost always on HGTV and I’m blowing up my Pinterest boards with home decor ideas. It will be some time before I own my own home, but I’m already so excited to remodel/decorate my future house. At this point, I’d really just be excited to live in an apartment where I’m allowed to paint the walls. This white dungeon is awful.
I’ve never really had a particular ‘style,’ but I guess if I had to describe what I like it would be ‘rustic industrial chic with a hint of traditional.’ I’m really into vintage and repurposed things. I love the idea of taking something old and using it for a different purpose than it was intended for or adding something to it to give a slightly contemporary look. I’ve never actually done any of these things, but I love the idea of doing them when I have time, money and a place to put them.
I have an image of what my dream house would look like, and if you’ve ever seen Dear Genevieve on HGTV–it’s pretty much anything that Genevieve Gorder designs on that show. I’ve put together a list of wants for my dream house, and it’s kind of long and random, but it’s what I like so, take a gander…
- Hardwood floors throughout entire house-dark—maybe herringbone–love reclaimed woods
- Exposed brick or stone
- Exposed beams/trusses
- White or very dark cabinetry
- Wood slab table with mismatched chairs (watch only the last couple minutes or so of the video)
- Pallet furniture
- At least one wingback chair, preferably teal, orange or purple
- Stainless appliances
- Sliding barn style door into kitchen
- White brick fireplace
- Frame collage wall
- Large porch
- Attic room with slanted ceilings
- A master bedroom with a cozy seating area
- A magnificent walk-in closet
- A Genevieve Gorder-esque master bathroom with subway tiles in the shower (again watch only the end)
- Shag rug
- A huge ottoman
- A blanket ladder
- A chevron wall
- Delicious flowy curtains
- Blush colored wall
- A library—preferably with a secret room in it
- Pretty pendant lights
There are probably a million more things I could add to this list, but I’ll stop there. If you really want to know what’s on the rest of my list, just find me on Pinterest.
If you’ve ever met me, you know I am a huge fan of Harry Potter. So, it’s only natural that visiting Harry Potter world, as I call it, is on my bucket list. The best thing about this is that I’m very close to going there! I have the tickets, thanks to some lovely friends of mine who got them for Mike and I as a wedding gift! All I have to do is find the time and the money to go!
Harry Potter has been on my mind a lot lately, probably due to the final film coming out this past summer and then purchasing it when it came out on dvd. I also plan to get a Harry Potter tattoo in the near future, but we’ll save that for another post.
Harry Potter has been a huge part of my life growing up. I was 11 when the first book came out and 18 when the last one did. I have read them all more times than I can count and I won the Harry Potter trivia contest at CMU last year (and all I got was a janky wand by the way–still bitter).
Anyways, I’m pretty sure that visiting Harry Potter world will be the greatest day of my whole life (besides my wedding) and I might throw up from excitement upon arriving at the park. Don’t even think about commenting on this post telling me how great the park is, or showing me pictures. This will not make me excited, it will infuriate me out of jealousy.
Watch out for my Harry Potter tattoo update!
Remember to remain a kitten forever!
So, I’ve started a real blog finally! The only blog I’ve ever had was Xanga, and that hardly counts. First, let me mention that I am not the best at writing, so if you’re looking for stellar writing and/or grammar, leave now. Second, let’s discuss how Kittens Fourever came about. I was browsing Pinterest and noticed that a person I follow was pinning lots of things from this wdywtdbyd? site. (It stands for ‘what do you want to do before you die?’) I was intrigued so I started browsing that site…which led me to the inspiration for this blog.
I plan to use Kittens Fourever to post pictures from the aforementioned wdywtdbyd? site and discuss why it’s on my bucket list. I may also include an occasional rant, or just link you to my old xanga page, which is full of rants from when I was 15.
Why ‘Kittens Fourever’ you ask? Good question. Well, I love cats quite a lot. Also, Mike (he’s my husband, you know) and I were discussing opening a kitty sanctuary someday and we decided we would call it ‘Kittens Forever,’ but that spelling was already taken when I tried to make this blog, as was ‘Kittens 4Ever’, thus ‘Kittens Fourever’ was born.
But enough about other things, let’s get to the fun part!
Ok, so this is an obvious choice for this post. The title of it is not quite what I want to do though. As I mentioned before, Mike and I would love to open a kitty sanctuary someday. Personally owning a bunch of cats would be cute, but our current cat would probably put up quite a fight. So, there’s something from my bucket list…in no particular order.
I hope you enjoyed your time here at Kittens Fourever, and may you also remain a kitten forever.
